In 2014, I became chair of DIG IT UP. This foundation develops projects focused on urban cultural heritage. DIG IT UP produces, among other things, shop window exhibitions, documentaries and talkshows. Furthermore, in the DIG IT UP Gallery we digitise, produce and exhibit audiovisual material related to the urban culture of Rotterdam. More information can be found on the website www.digitup.nl. The following videos are a few examples of DIG IT UP’s projects.
In the German Federal Archives, DIG IT UP found video footage that was shot just after the bombing in the Second World War. The discovery of this video material received a lot of attention in the national media.
As part of the The Sound of Rotterdam project, trumpetist Eric Vloeimans and violist Yannick Jiwat performed together.
In the crowdsourcing project ‘Rotterdam Attic Discoveries’ we asked people to share their audiovisual material related to the rebuilding of Rotterdam after the bombing on May 14, 1940.
